Description
This unofficial solo variant for The Vale of Eternity allows a single player to compete against an automated AI bot over 10 full rounds.
Setup
- Board: Set up the scoreboard and card board as normal.
- AI Difficulty: Place the AI's score token on the track based on your chosen difficulty level:
- Easy: 5
- Medium: 15
- Hard: 25
- Very Hard: 35
- Space: Reserve an area on the table for the AI to place 10 face-up cards during the game.
Gameplay Structure
The game follows the standard structure, with the player always going first:
- Hunting Phase: Draw 5 cards. You place your first token, then the AI claims the highest-value card (scoring its value) and discards the lowest-value card. You place your second token, and the AI discards the final card (scoring its value).
- Action Phase: Played as normal. You may treat cards in the AI's area as valid targets for your card effects.
- Resolution Phase: Played as normal.
Note: When the AI selects cards, it prioritizes by family/color in this order: Dragon (purple), Wind, Water, Earth, Fire. If there is a tie in value within a family, you choose which card it takes.
Game End
After 10 rounds, calculate your final score by adding the value of your remaining magic stones (divided by 2, rounded up) to your current total. You win if your score is higher than the AI's.
Easier Variant
For a simpler experience, you can play using the standard 2-player rules with only 4 cards. In this version, the AI scores the highest available card and discards the lowest; you then take the final card, meaning the AI does not score for a second card.
