Core Bot Rule Changes

The bot operates under a different set of rules than the human player:

  • Resource Management: The bot has no limit on the number of cards in its play area or the number of stones it can hold. It receives change when overpaying for summons.
  • Simplified Effects: The bot ignores printed card effects. Instead, every card it summons provides points equal to its summoning cost, plus a bonus of 1 point during the resolution phase.
  • Flexible Summoning: The bot can sell any cards in its hand (not just those hunted in the current round) and can summon more cards than the current round number.

Hunting Phase Mechanics

The hunting phase uses a "decision card" mechanism to determine the bot's moves:

  • Setup: Six cards are revealed instead of four.
  • Targeting: A card is discarded from the draw deck to act as the "decision card." The bot's marker starts at the first card in the family zone matching that card, then moves clockwise a number of spaces equal to the decision card's cost.
  • Drafting: If the bot lands on a card the player is targeting, it effectively "steals" that card. If the bot lands on an unselected card, the player must move their token elsewhere if they were targeting that card.

Action Phase Logic

The bot's summoning behavior changes based on the game's progress:

  • Organization: Cards in the bot’s hand are sorted by cost (cheapest to most expensive).
  • Summoning Priority:
  • Under 30 points: The bot prioritizes its cheapest cards.
  • 30+ points: The bot prioritizes its most expensive cards.
  • Payment: The bot uses its stones first, then sells cards from the opposite end of its hand (e.g., selling the most expensive card to pay for a cheap one) until it can afford the target card. If it cannot afford a card even after selling others, it holds the cards for the next turn.

Difficulty Adjustments

  • Easier: The bot does not receive change when overpaying for summons.
  • Harder: The bot receives a flat bonus of 10 or 20 points at the end of the game.
